Do I really need an emergency elevator phone?

Yes. All states require emergency elevator communication or two-way communication with emergency services. This communication must also be accessible to individuals with disabilities to meet ADA standards. Without a working system, your elevator WILL fail inspection.

Why are properties replacing traditional phone lines?

Many buildings are moving away from traditional copper phone lines because they are becoming more expensive, less reliable, and increasingly difficult to maintain. Property owners are also facing issues related to:

  • Copper theft

  • Aging telecom infrastructure

  • Long carrier repair delays

  • Rising monthly phone bills

  • Reduced support for analog service

Cellular communication solutions provide a more modern and flexible alternative.

Can LiftCom work with our existing elevator phone equipment?

YES. LiftCom solutions are designed to work with existing elevator emergency phone hardware, helping properties avoid unnecessary equipment replacement costs.

Compatibility depends on the existing system and site conditions, but most properties can upgrade the communication path without replacing the elevator cab phone itself.

Does cellular elevator communication meet code requirements?

LiftCom solutions are designed to support elevator emergency communication requirements related to ADA and ASME compliance. Final inspection and code interpretation may vary by jurisdiction, elevator provider, or inspector.

We regularly work alongside elevator companies, inspectors, and property managers to help ensure systems are inspection-ready.

Can cellular service help lower our phone bills?

In many cases, yes. Properties often maintain expensive analog phone lines solely for elevator phones or entry systems. Cellular communication can help reduce recurring telecom costs while simplifying infrastructure management.

Savings vary depending on the number of lines, carriers, and property configuration.
